September 1, 2005 Board Meeting Minutes

McCracken County Youth Soccer Association

The McCracken County Youth Soccer Association Board met at 6:30 PM, on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Lone Oak United Methodist Church. The following were present:

Board Members: Shannon Andrews, Scott Kirkpatrick, Dave Althouse, Tracey Brindley, Brett Draffen, Greg Holtgrewe

Guests:  None

Shannon Andrews called the meeting to order at 6:50 PM and established a quorum.


The minutes of the August 4, 2005, meeting were distributed via email.  Tracey Brindley will ask for approval via email from the board members. 

Work Day


A work day was held on August 27 at 8:00.  Participation was low from Rec teams.  Many competitive team reps participated in this work day as well as the previous competitive team work day.


Coaches Meeting, Thank You, and Season Kick Off


The coaches’ meeting was successful.  Coaches DVDs were provided as well as rosters and other information. 


The Board would like to continue this each season.




The Tri Turf bill has not been paid.  The $10,000 from the County has not been collected.  Steve Dolittle has not returned our attempts to obtain this amount that was promised by the County.


Competitive Team Practice Times


Several competitive teams are practicing on game fields.  Shannon and others will talk to the coaches about practice fields and look for alternative locations for practice.


Practice field 2 needs some maintenance.


Assignment of Players to Teams


There have been less than 10 requests for refunds due to dissatisfaction with the team arrangements. 


There are approximately 476 recreational players and 150 competitive players this season.


Field Maintenance and Mower Maintenance


Scott suggested that the trash cans be moved to the edge of the field to avoid trucks from driving on the field to empty them.


Bids for Mowing


Scott presented the four bids that were received.  The recommended bidder (lowest price) is Kent Cadwell.  His price includes the playing and practice areas.  He also provides all equipment.  Brett Draffen made a motion to accept the bid.  Dave Althouse seconded the motion and the motion passed.


Roles and Responsibility for Board Members

Tracey Brindley agreed to coordinate publicity and fund raising for the league.  Scott Kirkpatrick agreed to coordinate field maintenance until another Board Member is identified for this position.  Field maintenance includes goals, nets, corner flags, marking of fields, trash, etc.

The Board will ask coaches or team parents to take turns on a schedule to line fields.  In addition, we will ask coaches to help move the goals after the last game of the day to assist in mowing.

Dave will provide listings of persons who indicated they would be willing to help in theses areas.

The next board meeting will be Thursday October 6, 2005 at 6:30 pm
